Paradise Terrain Park Stats:
Skill Level: Advanced
Key Features: Slope style course with jibs, jump line, and more jibs
Location: Under Lift 1 on Paradise
Tips: Show off your skills to folks riding Lift 1, as you negotiate jibs up top, a jump line in the middle, and more jibs to finish it off.
The Pitchfork Terrain Garden is home to a 300 foot Half Pipe, plenty of rails, bumps, and a medium size jump at the bottom for some serious air.
Pitchfork Terrain Garden Stats:
Skill Level: Intermediate to Advanced
Key Features: 13′ halfpipe, kickers, jibs, bonks, separate beginner line
Location: Below Powderhouse and Pitchfork Pub
Tips: Purgatory’s most popular terrain park, Pitchfork is chock full of fun features, including a 13′ halfpipe. From the adjacent bypass road, parents can ride alongside while the kids shred. The skate park at the bottom features hips, banks, bonks, and jibs.
Divine Comedy, known by the locals as DC, is located just above the base of the high speed 6-pack chairlift. This is a great place for the experienced terrain park enthusiasts. It’s also a great place to meet friends and take pictures!
Divine Comedy Terrain Park Stats:
Skill Level: Intermediate to Advanced
Key Features: Boxes, rails, cannons, stairs, closeouts
Location: Base Area, just up from the Beach
Tips: Throw down the tricks you’ve mastered up top for all the folks on the Beach and Lift 1. Divine Comedy is nonstop jibs.
Angel’s Tread Terrain Park spices it up a bit with flat boxes. So, while you are cruising around, be sure to check them out!
Angel’s Tread Terrain Park Stats:
Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate
Key Features: Small boxes linked with a variety of angles
Location: Between the top of Lift 4 and the bottom of Lift 2 on Angel’s Tread
Tips: Angel’s Tread is the perfect park to slide some jibs with the kids.
Pinkerton exists solely for the beginner rider to master the basics of sliding a box and riding a line, with features just off the snow’s surface.
Pinkerton Starter Terrain Park Stats:
Skill Level: Beginner
Key Features: Low, flat boxes
Location: Top of Lift 4
Tips: Pinkerton is great for beginners and fun times with the kids.
Buck’s Livery will offer nightly sleigh rides from Purgatory’s base area. As skiers and snowboarders descend from their last run of the day, they will be greeted by a picturesque lineup of horse-drawn sleighs.

Explore the backcountry on snowshoes—all you need is a sense of adventure, we provide the rest! Our experienced guides will take you into the scenic San Juan National Forest, where you can enjoy winter’s beauty in areas you would never see any other way.
People of all ages and abilities can enjoy snowshoeing because there’s no learning involved, you go at your own pace, and you can do it under a variety of terrain and snow conditions. We provide snowshoes & poles, a guide, lunch, and water. You will need sturdy, warm boots, heavy socks, ski-type clothing, hat & gloves—and gaiters are recommended. You will need to dress in layers since the weather can change quickly. We also suggest a fanny pack or small day pack with extra water, sunscreen, and of course a camera!
Snowmobile Adventures offers unforgettable one- to four-hour family-friendly guided tours that start at Purgatory Resort and take you through forested trails in the surrounding mountains.
Ride high into the mountains with Snowmobile Adventures! There is a variety of one- to four-hour guided excursions available, traveling on more than 60 miles of spectacular trails… beginning right at the resort. Highly trained guides will pick you up from Purgatory. After some safety training, they will take you on a snowcat ride for a whole day of touring, skiing, and snowboarding. Lunch, drinks, snacks, skis/snowboards, and safety gear are included! Book your tour online or call 800-208-1780!
Durango Dog Ranch offers transport by dog sledding along a scenic winter wonderland route, with amazing views of Engineer Mountain. Dog sledding tours take off from the kennel at the base of Purgatory. Book online or call 970-385-2147.
Fly down the mountain on a tube at the Snow Coaster tubing hill. Rent a tube from Purgatory’s rental fleet, hike up the hill and then whoosh down one of three tubing lanes in the Columbine Area. It’s fun for all ages and the perfect end to a great day on the mountain.
Tubing Hill hours are weather and conditions permitting. No personal tubes. Riders must be at least 3 years old and 36” tall. All tubing hill riders are required to complete a Release of Liability. Call 970-385-2168 for more information.
Durango Nordic Center offers lessons, clinics, skate skiing, classic skiing, and snowshoeing. The 20km of trails are groomed every day with snowshoe trails maintained as well. Lessons are offered either privately or with a group. Ski equipment is available for rent for both kids and adults. Clinics are posted on the events calendar.
